Outstanding Saxophone Repair Shop in Boston, MA

I sometimes take for granted that my horn is in great shape, and that if anything goes wrong, I can count on a trusted technician to restore it. This time I tested that assumption more directly than I intended. I had my Selmer (Paris) Serie III Jubilee tenor standing upright in its BAM made, Selmer branded case. When I turned too quickly, I knocked it over with a sharp bang. Opening the case, I saw the horn had shifted noticeably, which immediately concerned me.

I went to play it and got essentially nothing below A. The G key was barely reaching its tone hole. I reached out and scheduled an appointment.

When I arrived at the Boston Sax Shop, the staff, technicians, and owner greeted me with exceptional courtesy. They offered coffee or water, and the owner began working on my horn immediately. I have not been to a saxophone repair shop anywhere with kinder or more professional people.

The horn was repaired on the spot. It sings again and now rests securely in its own Ambassador II case.

I could not be more grateful to Jack Tyler and his team for the skill and kindness they brought to that repair. Their work does not merely aim for excellence. It consistently embodies it. And that standard of care is not reserved for regulars. Every visitor I have seen at the Boston Sax Shop receives the same thoughtful treatment.
